This lyric was written mostly by Sarah commemorating an infamous night in Florida, then we reworked it together in Taos a month or two later. One of my favorites of all our co-writes.
lyrics
Sweet, sweet ethanol cleans the veins
Loosens the reins, lets the horses run
Keep, keep the glasses full
The freedom flowing
So we'll keep going
Til the bottle's done
There's a bug in the bottle (a bug in the bottle)
A bug in the bottle (a bug in the bottle)
There's a bug in the bottle that tells me when
To shut my mouth and swallow
Rye, rye, redemption slapped my face
Put me back in place when I went dry
Tried, tried, to keep my mind clear
Now I have no fear, no kids, no wife
There's a bug in the bottle (a bug in the bottle)
A bug in the bottle (a bug in the bottle)
There's a bug in the bottle that tells me when
To shut my mouth and swallow
So much easier to be free
Of care and and responsibility
So the bottle's mine
Til god decides to cut me off
Sleep, sleep comes to hard to me
Cold sweats keep me awake til five
Read, read the manuscript I wrote you
When I broke you and embalmed my pride
There's a bug in the bottle (a bug in the bottle)
A bug in the bottle (a bug in the bottle)
There's a bug in the bottle that tells me when
To shut my mouth and swallow
There's a bug in the bottle...
