Anvils 04:10
I’m in a town I hardly know even by daylight I’m stranded here by snow, won’t you stay with me tonight Whoa, whoa Tell me a tale that I’ll remember for a while Tell me a tale that I’ll remember… Tell me a story about your family and school Pitch your ambition before I leave you This bar is called the Ocean View but I just can’t see why Out in mid-Nebraska, snowy anvils in the sky Whoa, whoa Tell me a tale that I’ll remember for a while Tell me a tale that I’ll remember for a while Tell me a tale that I’ll remember for a while Tell me a tale that I’ll remember… Tell me a story, won’t you bend my ear Take me away to anywhere that’s miles from here Tell me a tale that I’ll remember for a while Tell me a tale that I’ll remember for a while Tell me a tale that I’ll remember for a while Tell me a tale that I’ll remember…

She came down from Montreal through the Adirondacks, Adirondacks Stopped beside a stream, dreamed a lucid dream In the sun she felt it come like it was washing over, washing over Felt it arch her neck til the clouds brought her back into the present She drove a hundred miles through the valleys, through the valleys Felt the earth slipping through her fingers Felt the earth slipping through her fingers, through her fingers Where the trees hang over the road, she drove, Blushing Rose Whispered secrets she knows, let go, Blushing Rose She pulled off for the night by a mountain lake, a mountain lake With banks so steep and high, she felt that she could fly And when she closed her eyes, that dream came back again Every scene the same, repeated frame by frame Where the trees hang over the road, she drove, Blushing Rose Whispered secrets she knows, let go, Blushing Rose Every secret I’ve been told hung like leeches on my bones Poison sirens left behind like feathers in a cage Where the trees hang over the road, she drove, Blushing Rose Whispered secrets she knows, let go, Blushing Rose Let go, Blushing Rose Let go, Blushing Rose

Keeseville 04:20
I have most of what I want A little house and orchard that I own A husband who plants cherry trees, a nursery for a child And the stars go on for miles A pile of rocks is my only orchard fence It’s always quiet out here in Keeseville And Casey’s corner store has the cheapest cigarettes For miles around I found Heaven You can stop lookin’ I found Heaven You can stop runnin’ Come on back to me One chair on the porch faces the street I’ll pick cherries til I hear you call I stained my fingers and cut my lips, my blood still runs the same Just tell me when, just tell me when I found Heaven You can stop lookin’ I found Heaven You can stop runnin’ Come on back to me Standing at the back of my wedding Came to see if I would run Then you smiled and disappeared again And I hated you for moving on I found Heaven You can stop lookin’ I found Heaven You can stop runnin’ Come on back to me Come on back to me, come on back to me Come on back to me, come on back to me Come on back to me

Tiny Turns 04:05
Tiny turns we take Roadside rules we make Lying wide awake Buckle up, honey, it’s a thousand and one miles You can sleep in the back, it’ll take a while Checkin’ you out in my rearview mirror We’re broke as hell but we’ve got style Hold on, hold on We’re gonna crash and burn Tiny turns we take Roadside rules we make Lying wide awake Staggered steps we start Battered broken heart Seatbelt, sweetheart, these parts are almost past Shot-out limit speed signs and shattered glass From my former rearviewmirror We’re broken as hell and proud of the fact Hold on, hold on We’re gonna crash and burn (hold on) Waitin’ on the left-hand turn (hold on) Sweep up the pieces and see what we learned Tiny turns we take Roadside rules we make Lying wide awake Staggered steps we start Battered broken heart Tiny turns we take Roadside rules we make Lying wide awake Tiny turns we take Roadside rules we make Lying wide awake

I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Watching the sun drop, drinking gin I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Listening to hip-hop, smiling again It’s a long beach, full of footprints and dirty shells washed away My summer feet are broken in kicking your ass out into the street The sand’s so nice once you get past the flies And they nip at your ankles and thighs I’ve got stale cocaine and I’ve still got my name And a town full of people to meet I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Watching the sun drop, drinking gin I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Listening to hip-hop, smiling again Out on the pier, can’t see the other side, waiting on the next hurricane Standing and dancing and way too high, waiting for someone to crash down on me The sand’s so nice once you get past the flies And they nip at your ankles and thighs Down on my knees with six Long Island Iced Teas And we all know nothin’s for free I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Watching the sun drop, drinking gin I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Listening to hip-hop, smiling again Life was much simpler when the earth was flat I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Watching the sun drop, drinking gin I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Listening to hip-hop, smiling again I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Watching the sun drop, drinking gin I’m walking backwards in flip-flops Listening to hip-hop, smiling again

Charlotte 04:03
Charlotte stole all the foil from the kitchen When she stayed for the weekend She said she was making pastry in the entry Cooling them by the door I never met her Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day Walking through the branches, pushing trilliums away Sunlight wraps around her shoulder in the foyer Picking sage for the bread in the garden Mixing bowl in her hand I never met her Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day A dining table, an empty chair A missing sister, a vacant stare Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day Somebody warned me Charlotte could leave any day

Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the river, mud in the river Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the riverbed The miners came in the 1900’s Dug their caverns, tailed their sluicings Left their pools high in the mountains They weren’t ever supposed to overflow Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the river, mud in the river Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the riverbed My mother died when I was twenty I was twenty, I was twenty Left me here in the land of plenty Left me to drown alone Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the river, mud in the river Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the riverbed There’s a funny thing ‘bout snow in the mountains Snow in the mountains, snow in the mountains It finds its way down to the flatlands Down to the valley below Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the river, mud in the river Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the riverbed This river here has flowed forever Clear blue water, down from the mountain Now, it’s a different color It’s gold, gold Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the river, mud in the river Oh, there’s mud in the river Mud in the riverbed

about

Go has eight acoustic tracks recorded in Stillwater, MN and two remixes by Cleveland producer Greg D’Alessio. Each song features a different perspective of travel, whether it’s for work, play, fear, or love. “Keeseville”, portrays a woman who decided to settle down in a quiet rural life, but in true Sugar Still fashion the beautiful scenery of Keeseville, NY is weighted with regret and longing for her former traveling partner. “Kitchen Door”, is a siren song calling lost and hungry souls to a warm meal and a warmer bed. D’Alessio took “Anvils” from a sparse acoustic track to a symphonic wonderland of thundering bass and string pads. The additional elements bring out the emotional range of a traveler snowed in at a roadside bar: bitterness at the current situation, honey-like charm in asking for conversation, increasing insistence with each passing drink.
